The RUF Internship

What is RUF?
RUF stands for Reformed University Fellowship.

The mission of RUF is to reach students for Jesus Christ and to equip them to serve him in all of life. Visit www.ruf.org for more info and the history of the ministry.

What is your role as a RUF intern?
As an intern, my role will be to assist the RUF campus minister and his student ministry team in fulfilling the mission of RUF. We do this through a variety of ways, including our weekly large group meetings, Bible studies, small groups, one-to-one meetings and social activities/outreach events.

My primary focus will be freshman girls. I'll spend most of my time meeting new freshmen, inviting them to RUF, and helping them connect with others in the ministry. My job is to invest intentional time in these students in order to help them get plugged into the community and encourage their spiritual growth.

What excites you most about the internship?
God's been breaking my heart for college students who don't know Him or are struggling to figure out what it looks like to follow Christ and live out their faith. I know from experience that college is a prime time for students to question or affirm their beliefs. I'm excited for the chance to have an intentional role in students' lives as they ask tough questions. A safe, inviting community is essential for students to be able to ask such questions; I seek to work with RUF to create such a community. We want RUF to be a place where students feel accepted and can grow in their faith and relationships with others. I look forward to working alongside the campus minister and Tulsa RUF ministry team to help equip students to be able to live out and share their faith and to help them become future leaders of the Christian faith.

How can I help?
Being a RUF intern is my full-time job. It's a humbling position because I have to rely on other people to financially support me. The internship is a two-year commitment; I need to raise close to $29,000 for my first year. This is my budget and raising this money will free me up to be able to focus on investing time in students. Some of the money will go to my personal needs, but some of it will also go to training and to other aspects of the ministry.

I need to raise 85% of my budget before I can work on campus in the fall. As I begin this journey, I'm looking to build a core team of financial supporters. I ask everyone to prayerfully consider how they might join my team, perhaps by giving anywhere from $25/month to $100+/month. Monthly gifts help me better plan my budget, but one-time gifts are certainly appreciated as well. Please let me know if you are interested and have any questions about supporting me. The RUF website lists ways that you can support. To donate online, visit https://www.ruf.org/donate/ and select my name from the drop down menu under "Recurring Gift Information." Starting June 1st you will be able to make a pledge or choose other means of giving.

Thank you so much for considering a partnership with me and God's work through RUF at the University of Tulsa.
